We don't get to say this very often, but the weather is pretty much the same across the Dominion today. The 24 hour cold snap is over in Alberta, as the temperatures hover in an around the freezing point, and Winter continues to linger in Quebec and the Maritimes! The Coldest spot is in Manitoba/Western Ontario, which should make the Winterpeggers very proud. Like yesterday, there was almost a Long John Index Royal Flush this morning, but alas, it was again broken up by Toronto. What up with that Toronto?

You wouldn't think it were possible, but it's actually going to be kind of chilly across the Dominion today! Pockets of cities with a Long John Index from Vancouver to St. Johns! Cold up north too, except for Whitehorse, where they seem to be immune to - 20 C temperatures, and Look at that, Alert, Top of Canada may see Long John Index of 3 today!

Winnnipeg earns its title as Winterpeg today, as it's one of the few places in the country where the temperature is actually going to DROP during the day! They'll go from a Long John Index of 2 to a 3! Hooray! Temperatures much the same as yesterday across the dominion, but with Southern Ontario and Quebec getting Rain! Liquid Snow! Still really cold up north! Alert now hasn't dipped below - 30 C in 3 days!

How the 'Long John Index' Works

Disclaimer: The Long John Index is a 'not-scientific-whatsoever' method of measuring when, and if, one should be wearing a pair of thermal long underwear, known more commonly in the Dominion of Canada as 'Long Johns”. It is used for entertainment and gambling purposes, and should not be confused with your preferred weather service.

The Index runs on a scale from 1 to 5; 1 being the lowest, and 5 being the highest, and starts at the Freezing/Melting point of 0 Degrees Celsius ( or 32 Degrees Fahrenheit). The simplest way to understand the Long John Index, is as the temperature drops, the Long John Index goes up, and subsequently, the time you should be spending outside without wearing Long Johns decreases.
